Impeachment is a Sideshow Now.

Don’t get over-excited about impeachment. It’s historical. It’s also a sideshow at this point.

Doesn’t matter. Process, Evidence, Testimony, Law, Constitutional Process, Media punditry, legal opinions by learned scholars and lawyers, chest beating by both parties, your and my opinions… Not a bit of it matters. The political divisions are too baked in now. The House appears, as of this writing, most likely to vote to impeach. The Senate is almost certain to acquit. End of story, go about your day.

It’ll be up to voters in 2020 to decide what sort of government they have in 2021. Assuming we get to have anything resembling a fair election. End of story, go about your day.

Realpolitik is ugly s**t. What will come from Impeachment more than likely is Trump still in office, and both parties further damaged by the ugliness of the process. Tossup is who gets hurt more. Impeachment only matters so much as how it plays out may influence how people vote in 2020. End of story, go about your day.

Don’t forget to vote. It’s all the power we have left.
